London 2.0
Brook and I returned to London for the second year in a row with a better understanding of how to build our time there. Our first trip was a true whirlwind and, having never been there before, we went for the Hits! We spend hours at Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London loading up on history and, well, crowds. And this time we wanted to go for more experiences, arts, and if I’m being real: better food.
Where we stayed: Tower Hill this is primarily a business district and is dead on weekends. We stay here because it’s near meetings Brook needs to attend earlier in the week. It’s a great “jumping off point” for the city, but not worth seeking out as a place to stay.
Neighborhoods Explored:
Islington
Shoreditch
Greenwich
Belgravia/ Knightsbridge
South Bank
Yarn Shop:
Loop London
I was more impressed with the yarn I picked up and the area surrounding the shop than the shop itself. Worth a visit to Islington, but the selection was limited.
Pubs and Drinks:
Found Cocktail Bar (Fun hidden gem!)
The Spanish Galleon
The Grenadier
The Nags Head (Our Favorite)
Hoop & Toy
The White Swan
Simmons (Open late on weeknight, but college bar vibes)
Dining:
Dishoom
Everyone’s favorite for a reason. Went for breakfast twice. It’s the only way to enjoy a Full English, if you ask me.
The Anchor & Hope
Our first Sunday Roast, this place was absolutely perfect. Bustling on a Sunday with obvious regulars, a menu that changes every week and definitely needs a reservation. All the English classics executed perfectly.
Pavyllon
A huge splurge and special treat for our last night in London, we visited Pavyllon right as they opened and had truly one of the best meals of my life. Great atmosphere, attentive staff who were not super pretentious, loved our time here.
Culture
Victoria & Albert Museum
Tate Modern
Cutty Sark & Maritime History Museum
